May 2, 2011 - This was very helpful! I'm taking up dizi again after many years but I'm stuck. When I blow it sounds like I'm breathing heavily; what I mean is, you can hear the notes being played when I play but in the background you can also hear very heavy breath streaming out, like the sound you make when you blow out very hard normally without a flute (think like candles). I'm wondering, is because my embouchure is not tight enough? Also, my throat muscles really hurt after playing, any tips to stop this?

Sep 1, 2011 - I just got a Dizi flute and don't have the mo kong (膜å”) to go between the embouchure and finger-holes. For now can i just block this hole with scotch tape and will the dizi still produce sound? Can one get the mo kong in most music stores?

Jan 9, 2012 - I bought one,and to my surprise there was no Er Jiao!!! and here in the USA it is not that easy to find,so i had to resort to using a kids washable glue sticks and using the dimo it works ok, but it gets very stiff and the sound isn't very good :0(now it just sits on my flute stand with my other Native American flutes.
